Total solar eclipse Monday

Highest magnitude of the eclipse will be 1.0245

A total eclipse of the sun will take place on Monday.

It will start at 19 hours 34 minutes Bangladesh Standard Time (BST) and end at 00 hours 53 minutes BST, according to a press release issued by the Inter Services Public Relation Directorate (ISPR) on Sunday.

The greatest eclipse will occur at 22 hour 13 minutes 30 seconds BST, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.

The highest magnitude of the eclipse will be 1.0245.

Total solar eclipses happen when the new moon (the new moon is when the sun and moon are aligned, with the sun and earth on opposite sides of the moon) comes between the sun and earth and casts the darkest part of its shadow on earth, as described by timeanddate.com.

This solar eclipse will not be visible in Bangladesh. It will, however, be visible from northwest of Georgetown in the South Atlantic Ocean, north of Adamstown in the South Pacific Ocean, Nueve de Julio Department of Rio Negro town in Argentina, west of Namib-Naukluft National Park of Namibia in the South Atlantic Ocean, and southwest of St Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha in the South Atlantic Ocean.
