The incident occurred while they were doing electrical work in a well
Three Bangladeshi migrant workers, including two brothers, have died from electrocution in Oman.
The incident occurred around 8:30am (local time) on Tuesday.
The deceased are Alamgir Hossain, 35, son of Bahar Uddin from East Charbata union’s Anshar Miarhat area in Subarnachar upazila of Noakhali district, Md Mostafa, 50, and Md Nur Hossain Nasir, 40, sons of Fakhrul Islam, from Satashdron village in Char Amanullah union of the same upazila.
Mostafa and Nur’s elder brother Ibrahim, who also lives in Oman, called their family and confirmed the matter around 10pm on Tuesday, said Nasir’s brother-in-law Zia Uddin Faruq.
In search of livelihood, Ibrahim went to Oman almost 30 years ago. Over the years, he helped Mostafa, Nur, Alamgir and his nephew Kamrul, 25, to migrate to Oman. All of them worked in the same electric company in Alwafa and lived together, he added.
On Tuesday morning, they went to do electrical work in a well. Alamgir went down the well first, and when he was not coming up for a long time, Mostafa went down too followed by Nur.
When they were not getting responses from anyone, Ibrahim and his other colleagues informed the local administration and the fire service.
On information, members of the fire service recovered the trio and took them to a hospital where on-duty doctors declared them dead. The bodies have been kept in the morgue.
Meanwhile, Ibrahim fell sick from the shock of the incident and has been admitted to a hospital.
The families of the victims have sought the cooperation of the government to bring the bodies back to the country as soon as possible.
