The Department of Japanese Studies (DJS) of Dhaka University (DU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Japanese philanthropy organization Shapla Neer to undertake initiatives for the wellbeing of students as well as the underprivileged people of Bangladesh.
The development took place at the DJS office on Tuesday, says a press release, adding that the MoU was signed for a period of three years with option to extend it for a further three years in the future.
DJS Chairman Dr Abdullah-Al-Mamun signed on behalf of his department while Shapla Neer was represented by its country director Ms Tomoko Uchiyama.
The partnership will undertake a number of activities for the wellbeing of the students as well as underprivileged people of Bangladesh.
The parties also agreed to undertake joint activities in mass media and social media platform such as Facebook to promote girl domestic workers’ right, child rights, child labour, education, ethnic community rights, disaster awareness, etc.
