The strike will be enforced on October 12-13
The Bangladesh Truck-Covered Van Owners Workers Unity Council has announced a nationwide goods transport strike for 48 hours to push its 9-point demand.
The strike will be enforced on October 12-13.
Md Abdul Mannan, Chittagong regional chapter convener of the Bangladesh Truck-Covered Van Owners Workers Unity Council, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
The platform announced the strike at a coordination meeting held at a local community centre on Saturday.
The Chittagong regional chapter of the council organized the coordination meeting.
“We have been compelled to go for the strike as the government has implemented Road Transport Act-2018, shrugging off the interest of transport operators. We have placed a 9-point demand, including revising the act by December 31 of this year. As part of realizing the demands, the countrywide strike will be enforced for 48 hours,” he said.
