The rape survivor’s infant daughter has been sent for adoption to a childless couple in Noakhali
The DNA test of a teenage mother of Comilla indicates that she was raped by her paternal uncle, said police.
Police received the reports after it was sent for a test in Dhaka a few months ago, said Akhter Hossain, a sub-inspector (SI) at Nangalkot police station, on Saturday.
On June 13, the 14-year-old girl's father filed a case with Nangolkot police against his brother Sohel, 45, in connection with his daughter's rape.
At the end of June, the girl gave birth to a daughter, born of the rape, who has been sent for adoption to a childless couple in Noakhali. The DNA test of the child has also been completed.
On June 14, rapist Sohel was sent to jail through a court and secured bail a month later upon the bail plea of his family including the rape survivor's father.
Locals alleged that the girl's father sought bail for his rapist brother upon receiving pressure from the girl's grandfather. The girl’s father was reportedly threatened by the girl’s grandfather and other family members that he would be left out of the family property and land if he did not comply with their wishes.
On July 17, Sohel was granted bail and afterwards few of his relatives, including the girl's grandfather, received him with wreaths and arranged a motorcade to bring him back home. Videos of the homecoming of the suspected rapist went viral on social media and drew flak.
After the matter came to the cognizance of the court, it summoned Sohel, and once again he landed in jail upon court order on the 15th day of the bail.
SI Akhter Hossain, the investigation officer of the rape case, said soon police would submit a charge sheet at court against Sohel.
