Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP)'s Cyber Crime Unit has identified six Facebook account users who made offensive comments on a picture of national cricketer Shakib al Hasan's daughter.

A general diary (GD) has been filed with Ramna Police Station in the capital on Saturday,  Additional Deputy Commissioner Nazmul Islam of the unit said before adding the Facebook users are from outside Dhaka and that they have launched drives to detain them.

Recently, ace all-rounder Shakib al Hasan posted a photo of his 4-year old daughter Alaina on his Facebook page where it was seen that she was standing in a field of sunflowers with a smile on her face and flowers in her hair.

But some Facebook users posted offensive and obscene comments below the picture.

Shakib and his wife Umme Ahmed Shishir removed the photo from their Facebook pages following the comments.

An investigation was launched following a verbal complaint from the victims, the DMP cybercrime unit said in a social media post on Friday.

"Some perverted people have made vulgar comments on social media about Bangladesh's pride Shakib Al Hasan's child, which is a punishable offence. This incident has come to our attention and we are trying to identify the culprits and bring them to justice," it said in a Facebook post.
