A probe committee has been formed to investigate the incident of the freedom fighter being laid to eternal rest without state honors in Chittagong’s Banshkhali upazila.
Chittagong Additional District Magistrate Dr Badiul Alam has been asked by the district administration to probe the incident and submit the report within one working day.
Speaking to Dhaka Tribune, Md Kamal Hossain, Chittagong additional deputy commissioner (general), said that the additional district magistrate had visited the place of the incident and talked with those concerned on Tuesday.
“The local administration accorded due state honours to the freedom fighter after he was buried.
“The freedom fighter was buried before they could reach the spot,” he added.
“The report is likely to be submitted on Wednesday. The district administration will take further steps based on the findings of the probe report,” he said.
The deceased freedom fighter Dr Ali Ashraf was the commander of Shekherkhil union unit Muktijoddha Sangsad.
He was also the labour affairs secretary of Banshkhali upazila Awami League.
