Nationwide anti-narcotics drive: 2,530 held in 7 days

Police have arrested a total of 2,530 people for selling and consuming drugs across the country from July 12 to Saturday.

A press release was issued in this regard by Police Headquarters on Tuesday.

All the arrestees were either drug dealers or drug addicts, noted the release. 

“As many as 1,714 cases were filed within the span of just seven days during the anti-narcotics drives across Bangladesh.

“Besides, 302,259 pieces of yaba pills, 5,849 bottles of phensedyl, 2.46kg of heroin, 820kg of marijuana, 2,682 litres of domestic liquor and 291 litres of foreign liquor were also seized,” added the release.

The ongoing anti-narcotics drive is a priority for Bangladesh Police in the task of building a drug-free Bangladesh, the press release further stated.
