The commissioner, in a letter to the IGP, said JC Md Imam Hossain was a corrupt officer and there were allegations of graft against him over various purchases by the DMP

Joint Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Md Imam Hossain, who was earlier accused of offering bribes to the DMP commissioner, has now been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) as the additional deputy inspector general.

A circular signed by Ministry of Home Affairs Deputy Secretary Dhananjay Kumar Das was issued in this regard on Monday.

Earlier, the DMP transferred the JC to the Public Order Management (POM) department on June 9. He transferred again within 20 days.

On May 30, DMP Commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam requested the inspector general of police (IGP) transfer Joint Commissioner Md Imam Hossain from the Logistics Unit as JC Imam had offered him a bribe.

The commissioner, in a letter to the IGP, said JC Md Imam Hossain was a corrupt officer and there were allegations of graft against him over various purchases by the DMP.

"He [the joint commissioner] even offered the commissioner a percentage from the procurement activities of DMP. That is why I believe he should not be working in DMP," the letter said, asking the IGP to take immediate steps for the transfer of the joint commissioner.

Meanwhile, Shah Mizan Shafiur Rahman, another JC level officer of DMP, has also been transferred through the office order. He shall now be at the DIG range office in Rangpur as additional deputy inspector general.
