BRB hospital’s ICU in-charge dies from Covid-19

The deceased doctor’s wife also tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday. She is currently undergoing treatment at DMCH

Dr Sajjad Hossain, an anesthesiologist who headed the intensive care unit of the BRB Hospitals Limited in Dhaka, has died after being infected with Covid-19.

He died at 9pm on Saturday while being treated at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Dr Mostofa Jalal Mohiuddin, president of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA), confirmed the incident to Dhaka Tribune.

Dr Sajjad had been undergoing treatment at DMCH’s ICU for 14 days.

“Sajjad Hossain is the 34th doctor to die from Covid-19 in Bangladesh,” said the BMA president.

“No one including doctors, police, or the general public, are safe from coronavirus now. Everyone must maintain social distancing, or risk getting infected,” he added.

The deceased doctor’s wife also tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday. She is currently undergoing treatment at DMCH.
