The Met office said the sky in Dhaka will remain cloudy during the day
A nor’wester, accompanied by rain and gusty wind, swept the capital early Wednesday.
“The nor’wester was blowing with wind speed of 78kph in Dhaka. It was 83kph in the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport area,” said Md Aftab Uddin, a meteorologist of Dhaka Met Office, reports UNB.
The Met Office recorded 63mm of rain in the last 24 hours, he said adding that the sky in Dhaka will remain cloudy during the day.
Dhaka’s temperature was 32.7°c on Tuesday which will go down to 22.0°c on Wednesday, the Met Office said.
The Met Office in its 24 hours forecast commencing 6pm on Tuesday, said steep pressure gradient persists over North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh. Trough of westerly low lies over West Bengal and adjoining area.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at many places over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions.
While it may occur at a few places over Dhaka and Chittagong divisions and at one or two places over Khulna and Barisal divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.
On Wednesday last, cyclone Amphan battered coastal districts of Bangladesh, with wind speed of up to 180kph and tidal surges over 10 feet.
It inflicted heavy damage to lives, livelihood, agriculture, infrastructures, environment, as well as the largest mangrove forest in the world, the Sundarbans, in the southwestern region of the country.
