Brief ceremony held while maintaining social distancing
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) exchanged greetings on the Hili border on the occasion of the Eid-ul-Fitr festivity on Monday evening.
Basudebpur BGB Camp Commander Chand Mian and Indian Hili BSF Company Commander Jagdis Prasad exchanged greetings by handing over sweets on behalf of the two forces at Bottoli point of Hili border, reports BSS.
A brief ceremony was arranged on the occasion while strictly maintaining social distancing to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection.
Basudebpur BGB Camp Commander Chand Mian said the sweets were gifted to each other on the occasion of the Eid-ul-Fitr in both countries.
“Both BGB and BSF always greet each-other with sweets and gift items on the occasions of different religious and national festivals of the two neighbouring countries,” he remarked.
Such a custom has been ongoing between the two friendly border guards for a long time.
“This kind of practice helps further strengthen the friendly relations between the two border guards working along the common international borders to maintain peace and tranquillity,” he added.
