PM: Temporary jobless people get cash aid

The government has also distributed 5,000,000 new ration cards for the jobless people

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said people who are temporarily jobless for the coronavirus pandemic got a cash aid of Tk2,500.  

The premier made the statement in the inaugural program of cash aid disbursement of Tk1,250 crore to five million families from the Ganabhaban on Thursday morning. 

Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary Dr Ahmad Kaikaus conducted the program.

The premier said: “Floating labourers, transport labourers, day labourers and boat pullers, who have lost their earning source after the attack of Covid-19, they are our priorities for this cash aid.”

“Moreover, we have given 5,000,000 new ration cards for the jobless people during the time of this coronavirus pandemic and many others are getting food aid from vulnerable group feeding (VGF) and some other social safety program,” she added.

The prime minister also said: “We have made the cash aid list for the temporary jobless people and their name is not present in any other government aid program. It is a fresh list and our committees checked and rechecked this list to avoid double payment through the mobile banking service.”
