Inspector General of Bangladesh Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed has sent Eid gift to the families of the seven policemen who died of Covid-19 while working at the frontlines of the pandemic.
Meanwhile, families of a total of 191 police officials, who died while serving the agency in 2019, were also sent Eid gifts -- which includes food items and dresses -- said Police Headquarters’ AIG (media) Md Sohel Rana in a press release issued on Wednesday.
"Bangladesh Police observes 'Police Memorial Day' on the first day of May every year across Bangladesh remembering those of our men who sacrificed their lives while serving," he added.

Till now the fast-spreading coronavirus has claimed more than 293,000 lives and infected more than 4,364,000 people globally, according to Worldometer.
As many as 1,613,429 people have recovered from Covid-19, which has spread to 210 countries and territories across the world.
