BRACU Mongol-Tori scores 93 points
Bangladesh's Brac University has ranked third in this year's University Rover Challenge (URC), the world's premier robotics competition for college students.
The team, BRACU Mongol-Tori, ranked the position jointly (93 points) with three other universities from Poland, Turkey, and the United States, the URC said on Saturday.
Michigan Mars Rover Team and Stanford Student Robotics of the United States stood first and second with 96 and 94 points respectively in the competition, held annually in the country's southern Utah state.
Although, the URC2020 Finals were cancelled due to the impacts of Covid-19, a number of 68 teams, out of 93, were able to submit their System Acceptance Review (SAR) packages earlier.
Later, the names of 36 teams were announced whose scores would have qualified for the finals.
This year the threshold to finish in the top 36 teams of the SAR and qualify for the URC2020 Finals was 81 points.
URC challenges student teams to design and build the next generation of Mars rovers that will one day work alongside astronauts exploring the red planet.
Launched in 2006, with competitions being held every summer since 2007, URC consistently draws an international field of the most talented and promising students around.
