The border force members detained 185 for smuggling and trafficking
Members of Border Guard Bangladesh have seized drugs and smuggling items worth Tk14.94 crore in countrywide drives in the last month. That time BGB detained 185 for smuggling and trafficking, said a press release.
The release issued from BGB headquarters on Friday read that among the seized drugs, there were 3,10,621 pieces of yaba, 22,951 bottles of phensedyl, 1,439 bottles of foreign liquors, 290 litter Bangla liquors, 400g heroin, 560kg of marijuana, 2,179 pieces of stimulant tablet, 1,054 ampoules of drug injection and 87,470 other tablets.
During the drives, the paramilitary force also seized 32 pieces of saris, 100 readymade garments, 275 metres of plain cloth, 543 cft wood, 111kg tea leave, one pickup vehicle, three private cars, 10 CNG run auto-rickshaws and 59 motorcycles.
Besides, the BGB also seized 2 pistols, 3 other firearms, 7 rounds of bullets, 3 IED and 2 magazines.
A total of 185 people were arrested for smuggling and were handed over to police by the BGB.
It also stopped one Bangladeshi and one Indian from crossing the border illegally, added the release.
