Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given financial assistance of Tk8,31,25,000 to the Qawmi madrasas of the country on the occasion of the holy Ramadan.
A top level source at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Thursday.
According to the source, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina donated this aid from the Prime Minister’s relief fund.
The money will be distributed to 6959 Qawmi madrasas through electronic fund transfer system.
The fund transfer process has already been started via concerned DC offices, the source said.
According to the source, there are 703 Qawmi madrasa in Rangpur Divisions, 704 in Rajshahi division, 1011 in Khulna division, 402 in Barishal Division, 397 in Mymensingh division, 1780 in Dhaka division, 1481 in Chittagong division, and 481 in Sylhet division respectively.
