Bangladesh is observing the Bangla New Year digitally this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The government has been imposing stay at home and social distancing policy since March 25, resulting in the cancellation of all events usually scheduled for this occasion.
The Cultural Affairs Ministry has organized television programs to celebrate the occasion instead of outdoor events.
“We are proud to celebrate our culture. Celebrating this day has been one of the traditions of the glorious culture of Bangalis for hundreds of years,” the state minister said.
