Child Rights Advocacy Coalition: Stand beside Santal children during coronavirus crisis

The underprivileged population is yet to receive any sort of help

Child Rights Advocacy Coalition in Bangladesh has requested the government and everyone else to stand beside the Santal and all other underprivileged children during the time of coronavirus crisis.

The organization made the request through a press release on Wednesday.

The press release said with orders from the government, people are now staying back at home to fight the coronavirus outbreak. At a time like this, the marginal people are the ones to suffer the most.

Government has taken many appreciable initiatives for them to survive this period, so have many other organizations and individuals.

However, the ethnic group of Santal people living in the Gaibanda’s Sahebganj and Bagdafarm areas do not have jobs for a long time and during this Covid-19 situation hundreds of their families are leading an inhumane life. The condition of children there is even worse, the release added.

Till now, no help has reached them, for which the Child Rights Advocacy Coalition has asked everyone to help and support these people and their children, along with all other underprivileged population of the country who are at risk of losing their livelihood during this global pandemic.

Bangladesh government has so far reported 6 deaths and 61 infected by Covid-19.

The fast spreading coronavirus, which was first reported in China’s Wuhan, has infected more than 1,018,600 people and claimed above 53,200 lives across 204 countries and territories and two international conveyances, according to Worldometer.

Globally, a total of 213,502 infected people have also recovered from Covid-19, a pandemic announced by the World Health Organization (WHO).
