The recovered patient urged citizens of the country to follow the prime minister’s directives and stay home
The first Covid-19 patient of Bangladesh has fully recovered from the disease and shared his experience of the whole recovery process.
Germany returnee Faisal Sheikh, was identified as the first person in the country to be infected by the coronavirus on March 8. He has fully recovered from the illness under the care and supervision of the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR).
Faisal shared his experience with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina by video conference from the Dhaka Divisional Commissioner’s office on Tuesday.
“After I tested positive for coronavirus, IEDCR took me to the Kuwait-Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital where I was quarantined for 10 days. My family members were also quarantined,” said Faisal.
“I was tested for the virus repeatedly a few days after that, but the results came back negative. Afterwards, I returned home to my family,” he said, adding that by the grace of Allah, none of his family members were infected.
Addressing the prime minister, Faisal said: “I am grateful to you for the Covid-19 treatment that is being provided in the country under your guidance.”
He also urged citizens of the country to follow the prime minister’s directives and stay home.
“Spend time with your families. We can prevent the spread of the virus if you remain in your homes as instructed,” Faisal said.
