State-owned jute mills to remain closed till 4 April

The decision has been taken as part of preventive measures to stop the spread of coronavirus

A 10-day holiday for workers of state-owned jute mills will be effective from today.

All jute mills will remain closed until 4 April, BJMC Khulna Region Coordinator Md Bonoj Uddin Mia said on Wednesday.

The decision has been taken as part of preventive measures to stop the spread of coronavirus.

Covid-19, which was first reported in China in December, has affected 196 countries and territories. So far, 435,382 people have been infected globally and 19,620 of them have died – a mortality rate of 15 percent, according to Worldometer.  

In Bangladesh, the first three Covid-19 cases were confirmed on March 8. Till now, 39 cases and five deaths have been confirmed.
