Programs organized at all embassies, high commissions, consulates general
Bangladeshi embassies, high commissions and consulate general offices across the world have launched the celebrations of MujibBorsho (Mujib Year) on Tuesday to mark the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh MujiburRahman.
All the missions in six continents have organized various programs to observe the day in a befitting manner, according to messages received from the Bangladeshi diplomatic representatives across the world.
The day's events began with the heads of the missions hoisting the national flag and placing floral wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu.
The messages of the president, prime minister, foreign minister and state minister for foreign affairs on the occasion were read out.
Discussions were held to highlight the legacy, works and ideals of the founding president of the country. In the discussions, special emphasis was given on how a prosperous Bangladesh could be built by following the ideals and works of Bangabandhu.
Special prayers were offered for the salvation of the departed soul.
Documentaries and feature films on the illustrious life and achievement of Bangabandhu were also screened.
Bangladeshi expatriates attended the events with spontaneity and enthusiasm.
As Bangabandhu’s birthday is celebrated as the National Children’s Day, some missions have also organized programs with children's participation in painting and essay writing competition.
As decided earlier by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bangladeshi missions abroad will organize a whole host of events throughout the Mujib year, including cultural programs, conferences and art exhibitions.
Like one in the headquarters in capital Dhaka, all the missions will wet up ‘Mujib Corner’ in their chancery buildings.
