Six trained horses were imported from India for the Bangladesh Police through Benapole Port Tuesday night.
The trained horses arrived in Bangladesh via the landport in a horse ambulance.
The import cost of the horses is estimated to be 70,000 US dollars.
The horses were purchased from Bidhata Suppliers, an exporter in the Barasat area of West Bengal.
Mohsin Brothers,a company based in Dhaka, acted as the supplying agent for the horses.
The clearing and forwarding agent, Madham Enterprise, has submitted a bill of entry to deliver the horses from the Benapole Customs House.
The manager of Mohsin Brothers, Enamul Haq, said : " The horses have been purchased for the Bangladesh Police."
Confirming the matter, Mamun Khan, OC of Benapole Port station, said : " We are providing all sorts of assistance to the related authorities for the rapid deployment of the horses."
