Some people were misleading Indian citizens saying that they would live well if they go to Bangladesh, he said

There is no incident of Indian citizens trespassing into Bangladesh, Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen claimed.

Even, no one will be pushed out of India, the foreign minister said while replying to a journalist's query at a scholarships distributing ceremony at Zila Parishad Auditorium in Sylhet on Sunday.

The foreign minister said: “The National Register of Citizens (NRC) is India's internal affair. Bangladesh has nothing to worry about it as New Delhi has repeatedly assured Dhaka that they will not push anyone who is left out from the final NRC."

Some people were misleading Indian citizens saying that they would live well if they go to Bangladesh, he said.

In such temptation, they have been trying to bring some people to Bangladesh, he continued saying: "But, we never allow such people to enter the country."

The members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) are working to stop any sort of trespassing, he added.

Referring to a recent incident of trespassing of 21 Indian nationals at Maheshpur border in Jhenaidah, the minister said that some middlemen brought those poor Indians to Bangladesh.

Some 329 people were arrested on charges of trespassing into Bangladesh from India in the last three weeks.

The arrestees who entered the country through the borders in Jhenidah and Benapole were detained by the BGB members.

Later, the foreign minister distributed scholarships among 218 meritorious students of the district.

The program was presided over by Sylhet Zilla Parishad Chairman Lutfur Rahman, in presence of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Farid Uddin Ahmed, Sylhet Deputy Commissioner M Kazi Emdadul Islam, and district Awami League general secretary Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury, among others.
