10 dengue patients hospitalized each hour

Currently, 1,218 of patients – 400 in Dhaka and 818 in districts are taking treatment in hospitals

An average of 10 patients are being admitted to hospitals each hour in the capital and outer districts, as at least 238 people got infected in 24 hours as of yesterday.

According to data provided by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) control room, 55 people took admissions to hospitals in Dhaka while 183 admissions were reported in districts in 24 hours since 8am of Thursday.

Currently, 1,218 of patients – 400 in Dhaka and 818 in districts are taking treatment in hospitals.

A total of 91,353 dengue patients have been hospitalized from January 1 to Oct 11, however 89,893 of them were released after treatment.

During the period, Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) received information of 242 deaths across Bangladesh from dengue.

After analyzing 151 reports, the institute confirms death of 93. However unofficial death toll is 179 in Bangladesh.

Number of dengue patients still remains high in Khulna division as at least 74 patients were hospitalized in the division on Friday. Among the other divisions, dengue infection was 35 in Dhaka Division (except Dhaka city), 30 in Barisal, 20 in Rajshahi, 17 in Chittagong, 3 in Mymenshing, and two each in Rangpur and Sylhet divisions.

The dengue outbreak this year reached all time high record in Bangladesh. Although it was initially limited to the capital, but spread to districts in the fourth week of July.

Since September, the number of people hospitalized came down gradually.
