The Royal Embassy of Norway hosted a joint program with Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), and Gulshan Society to raise awareness about the “International Coastal Cleanup Day”.

The program took place on Saturday, a press release said on Monday.

All three organizations, together, cleaned the lake, and walkways south of Gulshan-Banani Bridge (Kamal Ataturk Avenue).

Norwegian Ambassador Sidsel Bleken along with Gulshan Society President Sakhawat Abu Khair Mohammed, Conveners Shayaan Seraj, and Eva Rahman of Gulshan Society, and senior engineers of DNCC shared a few remarks on the importance of maintaining a clean lake, and how to use civic participation to keep an eye out for who is breaking the rules.

Three signboards were placed along the walkway, informing the passersby not to throw garbage into the lake.

A mango tree was also planted at that time.
