Momen seeks international financial support to achieve SDGs

The government has formed 16 Ministerial committees to collect funds in order to achieve 17 goals within 2030

Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen has sought financial assistance from international countries to attain the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The minister made the urge while addressing SDGs and Bangladesh conference arranged by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and UN at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) on Thursday.

He said no country can achieve SDGs alone and needs support from the associated countries.

"Not a single SDG will remain incomplete, however, it is quite impossible for the government to achieve all of them without proper economic support from donors," Momen said.

He added that the government has formed 16 Ministerial committees to collect funds in order to achieve 17 goals within 2030.

The minister also said: "It is important to form partnerships with all the international donors. Bangladesh also needs support from all sources including its private sectors.”

He added that Bangladesh needs around $5 billion to 11 billion every year to accomplish SDGs.

Among others, UN Resident Coordinator Mia Seppo, Senior Secretary Shamsul Alam were present at the program.
