Unofficial death toll stands at113
A woman has died of dengue fever at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Monday.
The deceased is Abu Hena, 45, wife of Mohammad Feroz and a resident of the capital’s Shyampur Pal Para neighborhood.
She died in the afternoon while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
The official death count from dengue till Monday is 47. The unofficial death toll stands at 113.
A total of 1,251 dengue patients have been admitted to different hospitals across Bangladesh in the last 24 hours.
Among them, 577 patients were admitted in Dhaka, and 674 in districts outside Dhaka.
Dengue, a mosquito-borne virus, spreads among humans through its carrier Aedes mosquito.
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), in a press release issued on Monday, said the number of admitted patients currently undergoing treatment in government and private hospitals combined is 5,562.
A total 52 dengue patients have died across Bangladesh from January 1 till August 26, according to their own collected data. However, the unofficial death toll is reported to be over 112, so far.
A total of 3,081 patients are currently receiving treatment in different government and private hospitals in Dhaka, whereas a total of 2,481 people are undergoing treatment outside Dhaka, the release said.
Since January 1 till August 26, a total of 64,765 people have been affected by dengue.
Among those admitted, a total of 59,030 have been released from their respective hospitals and clinics after treatment.
