In Dhaka's Tejgaon, a waiter named Abdul Mannan, 25, was beaten to death over the allegation of stealing a mobile phone.
This incident left two others-- Ali Akbar, 48, and Md Masud, 23 injured.
Confirming the matter, Tejgaon Industrial police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Alif Hossain said: "A senior student of Bangladesh University of Textiles lost his mobile phone while dining at the university's Aziz Hall on Tuesday."
"The student along with his friends beat up Mannan, Akbar and Masud accusing of theft, which left Mannan severely injured," he said.

He was taken to Samorita Hospital, where he died on Wednesday. Later, his body was sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital's morgue, the OC added.
OC Alif further said the accused student was taken to Tejgaon police station for further interrogation.
The other two injured were sent to Dhaka Medical College (DMC) for better treatment.
In Moulvibazar, a tea worker, Arjun Bhor, 65, was beaten to death after his cow reportedly destroyed rice from the field of another villager.
Swapan Bhor, 50, and his son Bishwajit Bhor beat up Arjun in Sagarnal upazila in the morning.
Confirming the matter, Juri police station Officer-in-charge (OC) Jahangir Hossain Sardar said: "A clash broke out between then when Arjun's cow destroyed Swapan's crops."
"Arjun died on the spot when both Swapan and Biswajit started thrashing him with a stick," he added.
On information, police went to the spot and recovered Arjun's body. The locals handed over the accused to police, the OC concluded.
