On behalf of Chittagong City Corporation (CCC), mayor AJM Nasir Uddin handed over the key to the city during reception ceremony.
Ace all-rounder Shakib al Hasan was overwhelmed after being accorded a grand reception in the port city Chittagong, where made his Test debut.
The Chattogram Jela Krira Sangstha (CJKS) accorded the reception to the left-hander for his spectacular performances in the recently concluded ICC Cricket World Cup.
The reception ceremony was held at MA Aziz Stadium on Tuesday.

"Shakib is going to be first player of the country who will be handed over the key to the city. Shakib is our pride. He has brightened the image of the country through his outstanding performance. The reception ceremony has been organized to inspire the budding cricketers,” said the mayor.
The young cricketers coming from different cricket academies of the port city were also over the moon to have Shakib among them.
The all-rounder had to go through a deluge of questions from the budding cricketers at the reception ceremony.
A young cricketer asked him what should be done to perform consistently.
In reply to his question, Shakib said, "You will have to overcome the pressure, work hard and maintain discipline. Then a good cricketer will emerge from you."
A young cricketer named Ishraq wanted to know how to defuse tension before a match.
"You will have to take preparation before a match as you do so before an examination. If you have good preparation, there is nothing to feel tensed," said the southpaw.
Referring to the budding cricketers, Shakib said, "You will have to dream and chase dream. Besides, you will have to work hard for implementing your dream."
The reception ceremony was addressed by sports organisers Ali Abbas and Sirajuddin Md Alamgir, among others.
