The non-stop intercity train, Banalata Express will be launched on Dhaka-Chapainawabganj route before the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, the second-largest festival for Muslims.
Railways Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan made the announcement to journalists during his visit in Chapainawabganj on Friday.
The minister said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina may inaugurate the train on the route along with other projects on July 25.
In his visit, Nurul Islam Sujan first went to Sona Masjid Land Port to inspect a 37km railway line project from Chapainawabganj to the land port.
He also said the government was working with the India to extend the railway line to Malda in India from the land port.
