AL opens special monitoring cell for Cyclone Fani

Bangladesh Chhatra League  has formed volunteer groups to help local administration

Awami League, the ruling party of Bangladesh, has opened a special monitoring cell to help the victims of Cyclone Fani.

Joint General Secretary of Awami League, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, opened the monitoring cell on Thursday night.

Sujit Roy Nandi, Awami League Relief and Social Welfare Affairs secretary is in charge of the cell and other members of Relief and Social Welfare Affairs will be present there 24 hours — for monitoring.

On Friday morning, Sujit Roy Nandi told Dhaka Tribune, over the phone, that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has instructed all Awami League leaders and activists to help and support the victims of Fani.

"As per her instructions, we have opened a cell and our leaders and activists in coastal areas have also formed volunteer groups for a rescue mission," said Nandi.

He also claimed that along with the local administration, Awami League has taken all the necessary steps to face the natural calamity.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Chhatra League central committee has asked its leaders and activists to form volunteer groups to help local administration.
