PBCP calls daylong strike on Wednesday in Rangamati

Parbatya Bangali Chhatra Parishad (PBCP) called a daylong hartal in Khagrachhari district on Wednesday, to protest the killings of the seven people and Belaichari upazila Awami League president Suresh Kanti Tongchanga.

It was announced in a press release signed by parishad's acting general secretary M Rabiul Islam.

The dawn-to-dusk shutdown is also meant for demanding the removal of female MP Basanti Chakma.

On Monday, at least seven people, including two election officials and four Ansar and VDP members, were shot dead and at least 26 others injured, in a gun attack in Rangamati.

Within 15 hours of the incident, Belaichari upazila Awami League President, Suresh Kanti Tongchanga, was also shot dead by unidentified assailants in the Alikhong area of Rangamati.
