Mosque teacher accused of raping young girl in Magura

A case was filed against the teacher by the victim’s grandmother

A 35-year-old aleem, who has been working as a teacher in a mosque in Magua, was accused of raping a four and a half-year-old girl. 

The victim’s grandmother has filed a case with the Sreepur police station on September 29. The victim’s statement was recorded by a Magura court on Sunday afternoon.

According to the statement, the victim has been studying under a children’s education program in a mosque in Barishat village under Sreepur upazila of the district.

The accused Aleem Afzal Hossain alias Mahbub, a teacher at the mosque had asked the girl to stay back at the end of their study period around 11am on September 28. 

Recounting the incident, the child said Mahbub took her on his lap and tactfully raped her. He then escaped when the girl started screaming. 

The locals rescued the victim; she was later taken to the Magura General Hospital for treatment. 

According to the locals, there have been multiple allegations of sexual harassment against Mahbub in the area.

Sreepur police station Officer-in-Charge Md Mahbubur Rahman said: “The child has a fresh scratch mark on her genital area. It is initially posited that the accused has tried to rape the girl.”

Magura General Hospital’s Resident Medical Officer Dr Bikash Kumar Biswas said he has been observing this case and a final report will be made within the next two days.

The girl’s father alleged that Mahbub and his entire family have been involved with Jamaat politics.
