The widely-anticipated, and much-hyped 10th convocation of Rajshahi University, will be held on Saturday.

President Md Abdul Hamid, also the university chancellor, will chair the convocation.
According to Rajshahi University’s public relations office, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid will attend the event as the special guest.
Former vice chancellor of Chittagong University Professor Emeritus Dr Alamgir Mohammad Sirajuddin will address the convocation, while noted singer Sabina Yasmin will perform at the cultural program organized to mark the occasion.
The university proctor’s office has provided a number of strict guidelines for the students, which is to be followed during the convocation.
On Saturday, all dormitories will be locked down from 12pm to 5pm.
All entrances and gates, excluding the main gate and Binodpur gate, will remain closed during the event. Registered graduates will be allowed entry to the campus after showing their cards.
All types of vehicles, including rickshaws, autorickshaws and motorcycles, will be banned from the campus for the day.
University teachers, students and staff have been instructed carry their identification card (ID) cards at all times.
The university administration has also shut down all shops inside the campus since September 27 citing security reasons, and they will remain closed until the event concludes.
This move, however, attracted criticism from both the graduates and students, as they are forced to leave the campus for purchasing food, and all other commodities such as photocopy services.
Responding to query, university Proctor Lutfur Rahman told the Dhaka Tribune: “All shops were closed down as per instruction of law enforcing agencies. These shops will be allowed to open after the president leaves the campus.”
Meanwhile, administrator of public relations office Prof Provash Kumar Karmakar said: “We have completed all preparation for the convocation. This event will be the greatest convocation in the history of this university.”
For this occasion, the university campus was decorated, roads were repaired, lodging was arranged for guests and some important facilities were painted. A stage was also built at the university stadium.
Eminent short story writers, and novelists, Hasan Azizul Haque and Selina Hossain, will be conferred D Litt degrees at the convocation by President Abdul Hamid.
The president will also lay the foundation stones of two state of the art dormitories at the campus.
