They were detained while trying to enter Bangladesh from India on Sunday

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has detained 13 people that were attempting to enter Bangladeshi territory through the Putkhali border in Benapole.

The identities of the detainees have not been ascertained yet.

They were detained while trying to enter Bangladesh from India on Sunday. However, no human traffickers were arrested in connection with the incident.

BGB sources said they received intelligence that some men, women, and children had illegally entered Bangladesh and gathered in a mango orchard in Putkhali village in the area.

Benapole Putkhali Camp Commander Subedar Omar Faruq said the detainees have been sent to Benapole police station.

A case has been filed in this regard, he added.
