The High Court ordered the BRTC
The Appellate Division will deliver its verdict next week on a petition filed by the Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) seeking a stay on a High Court order directing it to provide Tk50 lakh as compensation to the family of deceased Titumir College student Rajib Hasan.
A four-member bench, led by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, fixed May 21 for delivering the verdict after hearing the petition filed by the BRTC on Thursday.
Rajib lost his right arm after getting stuck between two buses at Bangla Motor on April 3. He died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on April 17.
A High Court bench on May 8 ordered the BRTC and the owner of ‘Sajan Paribahan’ to give Rajib’s family Tk1 crore in damages.
They were directed to pay half of the amount within this month and submit a report to the court on June 25, clearing that the compensation was paid or not.
BRTC only sought stay on the compensation, which it was directed to pay by the High Court, said its lawyer Muniruzzaman.
