Update : 01 Mar 2018, 02:44 AM
The final registration process of Hajj pilgrims for 2018 traveling under government management will begin on Thursday. The process will continue till March 11, said a press release issued by the Religious Affairs Ministry on Wednesday. Earlier on February 22, the ministry published a list of serial numbers of Hajj pilgrims who will be able to enroll in the final Hajj registration for this year. Of them, pre-registrants with serial numbers up to 16073 have been asked to complete their registration by submitting the remaining cost of their respective packages to any branch of Sonali Bank (A/C no. 00023300908, Local Branch, Motijheel), the press release said. The pilgrims along with the 'mahrams' of female pilgrims have been asked to fill up registration vouchers  with the help of Union Digital Centres (UDCs), the Islamic Foundation, district administration offices, or Hajj offices in Dhaka. Pilgrims under both packages (Tk3,97,929 and Tk3,31,359) have been asked to submit their remaining dues after deducting the Tk28,000 paid during pre-registration. Those who performed Hajj in 2015, 2016, and 2017 as well those who received Saudi visas last year but did not perform Hajj have been asked to submit 2,100 Saudi Riyals (Tk 46,935), if they want to perform Hajj this time. The Hajj pilgrims have also been asked to submit scanned copies of their passports during the Hajj e-registration process, it added. According to the Hajj agreement with Saudi Arabia, a total of 127,198 pilgrims from Bangladesh will be able to perform the pilgrimage this year. Of them, 7,198 will perform Hajj under government management and 1,20,000 under private management. Hajj is likely to be held on August 21 this year, but is subject to the sighting of the moon.
