The House on Sunday passed the “Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Youth Development Bill 2018," aiming to create skilled manpower through providing the youth with necessary training and education.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Dr Biren Sikder moved the bill in the House, which was passed unanimously with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhruy in the chair.
He said the bill would help create efficient manpower through providing necessary training and education to the country’s young generation.
He said the proposed bill would also formalize the activities of the institute that already exists.
The institute will have a board of directors and an academic council like other training and academic institutes under the government.
"The institute will provide training to the youth, prepare curricula and conduct research on youth development and award degrees and diplomas," Dr Biren said.
He said that a 21-member executive council headed by the secretary to the Ministry of Youth and Sports will run the institute.
