The orphaned Rohingya children at the refugee camps in Cox's Bazar will be trafficked if they are not properly looked after, said Social Welfare Minister Rashed Khan Menon.
He said the above after visiting a field hospital at a Rohingya camp in Ukhiya on Thursday.
The minister said: "If the orphaned children [at the camps] are not properly taken care of, they will be trafficked.
"37,000 orphaned children have been identified among the Rohingya refugees. With the help of Unicef, the government will give smartcards to the children who will be rehabilitated in child-friendly centres."
He added: "The Rohingya refugees will be safely repatriated to Myanmar's Rakhine state.”
