State Minister for Information Tarana Halim on Wednesday said a 13-member committee has been formed to implement the 9th wage board for journalists.
"A 13-member committee has already been formed and the list of the committee members has been sent to the prime minister for approval. Once we get the nod from the prime minister the wage board will be formed as soon as possible," she said while talking to journalists at the Secretariat.
When the subject of the 8th wage board not being implemented by many media outlets, the state minister said that the government will look into the allegations.
"A policy for online newspapers will also be enacted very soon," she added, however did not elaborate on the matter.
On June 19, 2017 the Cabinet approved the draft of National Online Mass Media Guideline keeping the provision that the country’s online news media will be regulated by the National Broadcast Commission.
"After assuming the office, I have decided to implement the pre-planned projects of the ministry," Tarana said.
A total of 26 information complexes will be built throughout the country while one digital movie theatre will be constructed in every district as per the plans of her ministry, she added.
Tarana said her ministry will telecast the development activities of the government in every foreign mission with the slogan 'BD Branding'.
The same contents will be showed in every upazilas and districts to inform the people about the development activities carried out by the current government, she added.
