Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda has said there are plenty of times left to decide about army deployment in the next parliamentary election.
“It [troops deployment] will be decided at due time,” Huda told reporters before attending an exchange of views program at Khulna Circuit House on Sunday afternoon.
The CEC also stressed that the Election Commission was not under the influence of the government.
“The Election Commission is not subservient to the government. There is no pressure. The commission is functioning as per the Constitutional provisions,” he added.
Later, Huda attended another exchange of views with election officials at Khulna Regional Election Officer in the city's Boyra area.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that the 11th national polls will be held under an election-time government at the end of 2018.
