Faridul Alam Talukder, the newly recruited deputy attorney general, died of cardiac arrest on Thursday.
He fell sick while arriving at the Supreme Court in the morning and was taken to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University. The doctors on duty declared him dead on arrival.
The news of his death was confirmed by Nasir Uddin, an administrative officer of the Supreme Court.
Attorney General Mahbubey Alam rushed to the hospital after being informed about his death.
His namaz-e-janaza will be held at the Supreme Court premises after Asr prayer on Thursday.
Faridul Alam Talukder was appointed as Deputy Attorney General on January 4. He used to live in Dhaka's Kamalapur area. His hometown is in Tangail.
