Power Café, an advocacy device of the National Alliance of Humanitarian Actors Bangladesh (NAHAB) held a discussion on fast and effective humanitarian actions at Platinum Grand Hotel in Banani, Dhaka on Tuesday, in association with Christian Aid.
Speakers from the media and NGOs, who attended the event, said the interaction of humanitarian actors in a flexible setting on selected strategic topics was necessary for crisis management in Bangladesh.
The programme discussed how to identify the possible scopes of collaboration with the media for effective disaster management in Bangladesh and educating the masses on every stage of a crisis.
As media forges a direct link between the public and emergency organizations and plays a very important role in disseminating vital information to the public, this discussion has come up with ideas that will help to create accountability of the actors engaged in disaster management activities.
The programme was presented by Daily Bhorer Kagoj Editor Shyamol Dutta, Christian Aid Bangladesh Country Director Sakeb Nabi, Joint Editor of Alokito Bangladesh Kazi Ali Reza, with NAHAB Chairperson and Executive Director of Dhaka Ahsania Mission M Ehsanur Rahman as the moderator.
NAHAB expressed their commitment to take initiative for developing a Media Strategy Paper to ensure a greater collaboration for effective humanitarian response.
