President Abdul Hamid is going to Rajshahi today on a two-day official tour to visit the Rajshahi Central Jail.
The head of the state had been a political prisoner during anti-Pakistan movement in 60's and kept at Khapra Ward in Rajshahi Central Jail, said Rajshahi Deputy Commissioner Helal Mahmud Sharif.
"Now he will visit the jail and will stay in the city," said the DC, adding that all preparations have been completed to welcome the head of the state.
On Thursday, Hamid as a chief guest will bestow the National Flag to the Para Commando Battalion of Bangladesh Army at Rajshahi Cantonment, he added.
Besides, he will visit the T-dam on the banks of the river Padma.
A stage has been set up there from which the President will enjoy the scenic beauty of the mighty Padma. Special security measures have already been taken centring his visit, said the DC.
