In celebration of the 20th anniversary of Bloomsbury publishing Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, the British Council is hosting a Harry Potter Festival in Bangladesh from October 15-28.
The first phase of the festival was held in Dhaka, at the Dhaka University campus office of British Council, from October 15-19. About 2,000 fans of the series attended the event, which included activities such as an art competition, panel discussion, treasure hunt, quizzes and games, said a British Council press release.
In addition, a “Wizard’s Classroom” was arranged, followed by a magic show by famous magician Jewel Aich.
The second phase was held at Rajshahi on October 21, and the third phase will take place in Chittagong, Sylhet and Khulna on October 28.
The Harry Potter series of novels by JK Rowling is one of the most popular in the world, having also inspired a series of blockbuster Hollywood films.
