Chief Justice SK Sinha performs puja at Dhakeshwari Temple
Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha has performed Lakshmi Puja at the Dhakeshwari Temple of Old Dhaka. The chief justice left his residence with his wife for the temple around 5:35pm on Thursday. He performed Lakshmi Puja rituals, and then left the temple premises around 5:55pm. Manager of Dhakeshwari Temple, Tapan Chatterjee confirmed the matter to the Bangla Tribune. The Bangla Tribune has learned that the chief justice entered his residence around 6:25pm. Supreme Court bench reader Mahbub Hasan visited Surendra’s home around 6:40pm and left the premises around 7:02pm. Earlier in the temple, Surendra Kumar Sinha met with International Crimes Tribunal Prosecutor Rana Dasgupta and Gono Forum leader advocate Subrata Chowdhury.

Rana Dasgupta told the Bangla Tribune: “The chief justice is in good physical condition” Meanwhile, advocate Subrata Chowdhury said: “Surendra Kumar Sinha stayed in the temple for 15 minutes, but I had no conversation with him.” Responding to query about the chief justice’s health, Subrata said: “He came here walking, and left the temple walking too.” Sources from an intelligence agency told the Bangla Tribune that the chief justice left his resident around noon on Thursday, and returned home around 1:30pm. He was reportedly accompanied by a security detail. Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha had sent a letter to the president seeking a leave of absence for a month on October 2. The Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs issued a gazette notification on the same night stating that Justice Md Abdul Wahhab Miah, a senior judge of the Appellate Division, will fulfill the duties of acting chief justice.   This article was first published on Bangla Tribune
