Md Muslim Chowdhury appointed new acting finance secretary

Md Muslim Chowdhury has been appointed as the new acting finance secretary, replacing Senior Secretary Heytuadullah Al Mamun. The Public Administration Division issued a circular in this regard on Tuesday. According to a press release, Chowdhury has more than 30 years of experience as a civil servant and consultant in different areas of public financial management. During his long career in the civil service, he led the initiatives in the public sector financial reform and has in-depth understanding of the government systems, budgeting, accounting and auditing processes. He was also actively involved in the initial formulation and implementation of PPP framework in Bangladesh and drafted the PPP Strategy and Policy 2010, issued by the government. The newly-appointed acting finance secretary had served as a director on the board of directors of Bangladesh Krishi Bank, Sonali Bank, Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Ltd, Eastern Refinery Ltd and Dhaka BRT Company Ltd. He had also served as a director on the board of directors of Saarc Development Fund (SDF), headquartered in Bhutan.
