Hotelier kills sixth grader for demanding dues
A 13-year-old school student has been tortured severely and then strangled to death by the owner of a hotel in Rangpur’s Badarganj where he worked as a part-time staff for demanding his due wages. The body of Akram Hossain was recovered from the hotel early Saturday. The hotel owner, Soleman Ali, went into hiding soon after the incident. According to police and victim’s relatives, Akram used to work in the hotel as his extremely poor parents were unable to bear his educational expenses. On Friday night, when Akram demanded his seven days’ due wages, the hotel owner asked him to take the money later. When Akram refused to accept the decision, Soleman started beating him up mercilessly and at one stage strangled him to death with a rope. Police recovered the body in the morning being informed by the locals. Badarganj police station Officer-in-Charge Akhtaruzzaman said that marks of injuries were spotted all over the body. The body was sent to Rangpur Medical College morgue for post-mortem examination.
