Four people have been killed and around 11 still missing after a boat capsized near Guptachhara Ghat in Chittagong’s Sandwip upazila.
Three of the decreased are Salauddin, 30, Shochindra Joldash, 50, Borodash Joldash, 60.
“A boat carrying 40 passengers capsized due to damage caused by stormy weather around 10pm on Sunday,” Bangladesh Coast Guard’s spokesperson Lt Col Omar Faruque told the Dhaka Tribune on Monday morning.
“Coast Guard members recovered four bodies and rescued 25 people.
“We are searching for 11 people who went missing in the accident,” Omar added.
Sandwip police OC Shamsul Islam said the passengers got off a sea-truck that anchored few yards away from the jetty.
They got into a small boat to reach the ghat and but the boat sank during stormy weather.
